Allowing the customisation of experiments based on the gene of interest, a range of fast, reliable and ready-to-use assays and reagents has been developed by Qiagen. Available through GeneGlobe, the company's web portal, state-of-the-art algorithms and access to the most updated information from scientific databases allow customers to explore and order gene- and pathway-specific products for a range of applications. This provides a broad portfolio, including assays that are validated and ready-to-use.
For miRNA research, miScript Target Protector, a first-to-market product, facilitates the functional analysis of miRNAs by specifically interfering with the interaction of an miRNA with a single target, while leaving the regulation of other targets of the same miRNA unaffected. In this advanced approach, transfection of an miScript Target Protector can reveal the targets and roles of specific miRNAs. The FlexiTube siRNA Premix allows convenient one-step gene silencing in low-throughput applications for the analysis of gene function. siRNA and a transfection reagent are provided premixed at optimised ratios, which gives the benefits of potent siRNA design and efficient transfection, while minimising optimisation, shortening the transfection protocol, and enabling consistency across experiments and more reliable results.
Pyrosequencing assays enable high-resolution methylation analysis of specific targets across the genome: consecutive methylation sites can be analysed independently and quantitative DNA-methylation data can be obtained in a fast and convenient way. PyroMark CpG Assays are pre-designed assays that eliminate the time-consuming and error-prone assay design process in epigenetics research, whereas PyroMark Custom Assays are customer-designed and can be used for any type of Pyrosequencing research application: epigenetics; genotyping; microbial ID and resistance typing. By designating PCR and sequencing primers, optimised, user-specific assays can be generated to determine methylation patterns, the frequency of insertions and deletions or other mutations, or to obtain sequence information of virtually any gene. The PyroMark OneStep RT-PCR Kit has been developed for the identification and resistance -typing of RNA viruses, and generates a high-quality sequencing template in the quantities needed for sensitive mutation and microbial analysis.
