Liquid Handling
Small is beautiful: integrating liquid handling into PCR microchips
In the future, liquid handling may have to viewed through the microscope if it is to be seen at all. By integrating a novel liquid handling system into a microfluidic flow-through reactor for real-time PCR, Swiss researchers have developed a reliable and flexible solution for one of main challenges facing developers of biochips – namely, how to precisely control the movement and positioning of very small amounts of liquid.

Nothing to sneeze at: High-throughput handling of echinacea samples for MALDI-TOF MS
It’s December, and chances are you have had a cold in the past few weeks. If you take dietary supplements like echinacea, you may be relying on high-throughput liquid handling to help ensure that your herbal remedy is exactly what you expect it to be (whether or not it can really works is another question).

Exposed: High-throughput sample handling solution for drug exposure studies
Modern drug discovery and development is a long, expensive and risky process. To help reduce the cost and risk developing new drugs, pharmaceutical companies are emphasising the use of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) studies earlier in the preclinical phase. This is leading to bottlenecks in sample analysis, a problem that can be addressed at least in part with better high-throughput sample handling strategies.
